it's the way it is. The way you cope with it
makes the difference."

I am a native of Columbia, South Carolina, and I truly identify with being a "southern girl".  As the oldest of 6 children I have always been seen as the "helper" in our family because of my passion for supporting others during difficult times.  As a Counselor I specialize in working with adolescent girls and women who are suffering from being fatherless, sexual trauma, losing a parent, spouse, or child, academic and career stress, being in a loveless marriage, and struggling with infertility.  I support my clients when they choose to begin the healing process, and encourage them when they've decided to begin working towards improving their ability to get through difficult life situations.  My approach is to work together with clients to address the issues that bring them the greatest amount of fear.  We work to gain clarity into the source of their fears, identify their existing strengths,  discover new strengths, and learn healthy coping skills.  As a result of the counseling process clients can become more confident at working through challenges on their own, they learn how to make better decisions, and they begin the journey towards experiencing lasting contentment.

I am a National Board Certified Licensed Professional Counselor, and a Licensed Addictions Counselor in the State of South Carolina.  I have more than13 years of experience working as a mental health professional with children and adults.  I have extensive specialty training in helping clients with processing trauma, Motivational Interviewing Therapy, Child First Forensic Interviewing, treating Depression and Anxiety Disorders, Suicide Assessment and Prevention, Marriage Preparation, and Marriage Enrichment.

My husband and I have been married for 10 years, and we are parents to an outgoing and free spirited little girl.  In my spare time I enjoy traveling, writing, graphic design, and spending time with my family.  In a time when many of us struggle to maintain a sense of peace and happiness I have adopted the personal motto:
"the happiest people don't have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they experience".
